You need a mixer because midi is not audio (like class said).. Midi transmits data back and forth so you can use as many machines as you need in sync with each other.. You would need a mixer because you need to hear both machines at the same time.. So basically homie, you would use your sounds from your Korg keyboard with sounds from your mpc, in sync (together at the same time). NOt too sure if this is what u meant but, I beleive every producer in the beggining think of midi this way, i know i did... Your question was kind of vague, post more info if this ain't enough for you...

Are u just using ur korge as a controller , or dose it have sounds?? If its just a controller for you MPC then no u wont need a mixer casue the sounds are only coming off your MPC. If ur korge does have sounds then u need to plug the audio from your korge, and the audio from your MPC into a mixer

Watch this video it may help

Im explaing my set up and how audio and MIDI are routed.

,also please search on MIDI and understand its concpets, we can sit here and explain till the cows come home but if u dont learn on your own it wont help

Yeah, the korg got some sounds on it... I want to use it like a controller keyboard and i want to use some of the sounds that comes from the keyboard... So what i need is a mixer?

Another question is, can i use my korg keyboard to control my bass sounds from my mpc.. If i am loading a bass tone and pressing 16 levels, can i control that trough my keyboard?

My english is not that good, hope you guys understand.. And thanks a lot for helping me out.

Yes, u can use your keyboard to controll sounds and use sounds with the mpc... I am pretty sure, i don't have an mpc but my homie was lettin me use his 4000 for a while and i could mess with sounds like that... But, now that i think about it they were preset sounds in the mpc..

YEs you can,

If u want to controll sounds on the MPC u make sure the track settings are set to DRUM,

If u want to play and controll sounds on the korge u make sure the track settings are MIDI

You would have MIDI out of the korge to MIDI in of the MPC
Then u would have MIDI out of the MPC to MIDI in on the korge, this way u can controll sounds on both machines

No u woud need the audio cables from your korge to go to a mixer
and the audio cables from the MPC to go to a mixer

This is just an overview, there are alot more little details im leaving out.

GO here

www.mpc-forums.com and search, they have detailed answers to your question

Ok thanks!

You dont know how to control my bass sounds? I mean, i want to lay my bassline on the keyboard not the pads. Is it possible to press the 16 level button and play 16 different tones on the keyboard?

AGain like i said eariler if u put the track on DRUM u will be able to controll the bass sounds on your MPC from your korge. Also depending on what type of MPC your have u can used autochormatic function to spead the bass across the keys like a real instrament.

AGan u HAVE to read your manual and research man, nobody can hold your hand threw this.

good luck
