Hey,

Racks are smaller and take up less space in the studio but are just as effective as their keyboard brothers. I have 9 synths in my studio, 7 of them are racked. If they were all keyboards, I would need another room to fit them all.

Sometimes racks will come with different features than a keyboard, an example would be the Korg Wavestation: the AD rack version has a audio inputs which can be routed through the synth's filters and effects. The keyboard version doesn't come with this option.

Take care,

Nick

Hey,

Yes, you will need something like a keyboard controller and some MIDI cables/interface to play it, you connect MIDI cables from the controller to the module and play it like that...or, if you have a computer with a MIDI sequencer running, you connect the controller to the interface, then you connect the interface to the module.

The 'interface' method is the best way to control modules if you have several of them because you can route your MIDI messages in any direction without having to physically move any of the cables around.

Take care,

Nick
