So here's my question...and let me preface this by just saying I have tried to figure this out on my own, but to no luck, so I'm not being lazy and asking for help before I should...
So all I've got right now is FL 5 and a very basic MIDI keyboard. I know FL is tight and is a comprehensive program, I've figured out almost all of its features real well. My problem though is laying down drums to sync up with a sample...I'm having 2 problems:
1) Right now, I have to make my drums by loading a kick onto my keyboard, playing the kick part of my drum beat, then doing the same with a snare, etc. - the point is i have to do the drums piece by piece which for me at least ruins the vibe and rhythm of the whole thing. When I'm at a friend's house on an MPC I can bang out some pretty good stuff but I'm worthless with this keyboard so far...so my first question is- is there any way to assign different channels/sounds to the keyboard at once, and how do you do this?
2) The second problem I'm having is a major lag between my keyboard and FL's piano roll. When I play my drums in record mode on the piano roll, even if I play them on time, they come out on the piano roll messed up- off tempo, some notes get grouped together, etc- and its making it impossible to make even acceptable drums. Is there anything I can do to eliminate the lag in FL (again, all I have is a basic M-Audio USB keyboard and FL 5- very fast computer though-3.2ghz, 1gb ram, 200gb HD). If not, how would you guys recommend doing my drums? Is there a program you like to bang out some drums and then sync them up to your samples?
Thank You!!
