i dont like the tritons drums so i usually end up loadin a drumkit of wav files to it and usin it that way, but im wonderin wut if instead of loadin the wav files to the triton i just put them on fruity loops and sequence the drums on fruity and the instrumental part on the triton them just puttin them together on cool edit. am i loosin any quality drum wise like this???

im guessin its the same since it is a wav file, but im not 100% sure.

thats a waist of money in my opinion, why even have the triton keyboard if your going to use FL for sequencing? plus you do the same thing of loading sounds on fl anyways. At least its easier on the triton you just create your drum kit once and then you only load one file everytime you want to use it. Fl you have to load the wavs seperately on each track.

No the quality of the wav files wont change, but you wont be able to use the fx on the triton on your drums. I don't think the fx on fl is that good in my opinion, rather cheesy i think. How long have you had your triton? cause it seems you don't know its full capabilities.

Anyways if you go the fl route i would recommend you sell that triton and get sound modules and a midi keyboard. You can connect all of them to FL.

Good Luck.

the thing is that i get the best results programmin the drums on somthin like fruity loops cuz i started makin beats on music generator, so im just used to it more. but i can come up wit a melody easier on a keyboard.

and really tho its just the kick and snare that i do on fruity its just easier for me. i usually dont put too much effects on my kick and snare anyway, maybe some decay and compress the kick, but ill find a way.

thanx for the info.

I disagree... You sequence on Fruity loops, because it is easier. Use the Korg for just a sound module. Who says you can't program drum kits on Fruity Loops... sure you can and load just one single file.

I trigger my MS2000br with the MIDI outin FL... then run it into the mixer and add any effects that I want... then out to my multitracker, along with the other FL tracks. Works great... harware sequencers are too hard to use. Why use them when you can sequence in 1024x768 full color.

The delays on Fruity are as good as any that you find, plus you have the option of all of the VST's that are available.

if you sell your triton you can get a couple good sound modules and a midi keyboard to play your melody's on FL from your sound modules.

You can also get a triton rack and a midi controller so that you keep the same sounds you have now. Either way you will end up with some extra money left over, think about that.

harware sequencers are too hard to use.

fade502 im not trying to put you down but its probably cause you don't know about music thoery or have no experience with hardware based sequencers.

If you started out with FL and try to use a hardware based sequencer anyone would be lost cause they have no idea of how to read music. I just don't think its possible to learn that by loading wav files and clicking squares. I don't mean to offend the FL net society but its the truth. That doesn't mean you can't make beats with Fl too.

Listen.... I know plenty about hardware sequencers... so much in fact that I don't use them because their software counterparts are far superior. Have you ever used Fruity Loops... I can play a melody into Fruity with a controller JUST LIKE I CAN WITH A HARDWARE SEQUENCER. Don't step to me with this this tired music theory crap that you holier than thou music theorist keep flapping.

For real, your not making sense. Tell me ONE THING that a hardware sequencer can do better than a software sequencer. Maybe you prefer a hardware sequencer becasue it makes you feel more musical, but with software you can get higher resolution, more editing options and control, a much larger display, more information when step editing. Seriously, finding that one note that you jacked up in a 16 bar sequence is an exercize in futility... especially if you are belting out complex pieces. With software I can see the offending note and fix that single instance with out punching in or re-recording. I used an MPC2K for years, and it SUCKS for sequencing. Does anyone really prefer using a 4x4 LCD display when they can be doing full color, high resolution editing on a computer. What do you think major studios use? Ever hear of Cubase, Cakewalk or Pro Tools?

Seriously, if you ain't heard, maybe you should ask somebody, but alot of FL users don't click beats into the step sequencer, they play their pieces into the piano roll with their controllers (just like you).

Listen... I'm tired of this "my way is better than yours" conversation. Just don't make any assumtions about my skillz or musical ability because I have seen the light and prefer to use software to sequencer.

blah blah blah i didn't mean to spark your defensives up. Yes i know of cubase and i use it to record my tracks and vocals. I highly doubt major studios even have fruity loops in thier possesion, sorry to burst your hopes. If the FL sequencer is that good why do you use a midi controler? that makes no sense bud. You end up using a "hardware" device no matter how you look at it :nanner:

No Reply necessary? come on now....

What do you mean why do I use a midi controller? So that I can have hands on controll to impress the music theorists around me. I know Fruity Loops is not in major studios, so what. Most studios don't sequence on their Triton either.

ok kids, quiet down. enough is enough..... dont make me take this belt off....... !

alright, seriously now..........

addressing the argument: its somewhat peaceful thus far, but its time to keep the focus on the topic anyhow.

fade, i agree completely about hardware/software sequencers- i used an mpc for a year before i got cubase, and both have pros and cons- and cubases pros far outweigh the pros of the mpc. music theory doesnt have anything to do with the preference, by the way... and i fail to see where that even comes into play.

the midi controller is kind of a necessity- its not much fun usin pc keys or clicking notes, or as effective for that matter. this whole software vs hardware argument is tired, played, and pointless.

j-malice- look, i know you are in love with that triton, but i would suggest selling it if you are using the FL sequencer...... you can get the new Fantom XR sound module for $1400, or a Motif Rack for $1000 new and around $850 used... or even the older (sorta) xv 5050 for $800....... but hey, thats me- the thing is that the fantom xr module can do everything the triton can and then some it looks like, and you would likely come away with a lil extra for it... just suggestions, you can really move up if FL what your current sequencer is..... just my 2...

lol man yall are funny with that sell the triton thing. to me its all about options. when i have more options i make beats alot easier and
--->"FASTER"<--- the ONLY reason i do the drums on FL is because all i just downloaded all the drumkits eka hit us wit, and all i have to do on FL is click the soundfonts folder and There is those thousands of drum sounds and i can use anyone that i want just by clickin on it and then i dont even have to try and play it on beat. i can actually think of what kind of track i want and what feel i want for the beat then just put it down that easy. and when i want to switch it up i just press ctrl+shift+C and switch up the hits.

if you play the keyboard or make beats on a keyboard then you would know that alot of the time you end up freestylin the drum parts. and i dont have to worry about that on FL. Then it hasnt failed me yet after i get the basic drum pattern i go to the triton and hit up a killa ass melody...now if i sell the triton what am i gonna make my melody with? i dont like doin it on the computer so its gonna have to be another keyboard. so i might as well keep the one that i like and know how to use and is already good and used to it. the only thing i didnt like about the triton is the drums...and makin beats is all about how comfortable you are...if you're uneasy with your setup then you'll get some uneasy beats and vice versa...

so really this is a good example of what everyone should do as in....find what you dont like about your setup and do what you have to do so that you do like it without sacrificin any quality. and thats all my question was, am i loosin any quality? sober answered that for me.

and when yall say sequencin..what exactly are you talkin about? isnt programmin the meldoy sequencin too? (thats just a question, be easy)
cuz if you just talkin about the drums then i see know point cuz thats just a matter of personal preference. I feel like i have more control over my drums on a computer so im gonna come out with a hot track usin a computer...you feel like you have more control usin a keyboard so your gonna come out witta hot track usin a keyboard...same thing with usin a keyboard and a computer.

be easy
