Ok, hello fellow producers... have a few questions and i'm new to the site so again sorry if this has been mentioned before but i've tried 3 days straight to get things working myself to no aval... Ok here goes:
Equipment Being used:
MPD16 as an MPC Controller
Old ass Casio synthesizer as my MIDI Keyboard Controller
FL Studio
Sonar 7
Ok, I open sonar. Insert FL Studio Re-Wire. I add a midi track, set input to my MPD and output to FL Studio Channel "FPC" (The VST MPC Plugin), i map out my sounds in FL studio, and record it with Sonar. The reason I use sonar to record is because I can actually see the sequencer as opposed to FL studio step editor and ****, i'm totally newb when it comes to FL studio... I have no idea how to use the sequencer. I'm lost. Ok thats not even the issue tho, sorry. So I record in Sonar I got my drum line via the MPD. Now I want to play a melody.
I go back to FL Studio, drag a .wav Sample to a new channel so i can controll it via the MIDI controller I have. I add a new channel in sonar (Input MIDI Controller ---> Output FruityLoops Sound Channel)... Ok so I play it out on the keys, but not only does the sound play but a snare will play too.. keep in mind I have NO Snare channel in FL studio.. and even if I did I have sonar set to only output to the custom sound channel I added... I can not understand why this keeps happening? If I use a VST in FL studio, and control that via sonar it will only play the sounds of the VST not the snare.. but when I add a sound (wav file) to the Channel in FL studio, my controller not only plays that sound but the snare also.. I've tried swithcing channels, restarting, reinstalling.. No clue
My friend uses a Controller, MPC 1000 and Motif Rack.. whic his an ideal setup for me (mostly hardware) , and if I indeed had that hardware I would not be needing to re-wire etc etc.. but I have to deal with what I'm working with (MPD, MIDI CONTROLLER, And cut-up sounds)... I mean logically, it should work flawlessly but I just cant figure out what the hell is going on!?!?
FL Re-Wire is very buggy to me, and I'm starting to loose patience..
A friend recommended Reason, Would I be better of using that? Can I play out WAV sounds in reason via my MIDI controller? Sorry for the long post but I need answers and wanted to provide as much info as possible. Thanks in advance..
