i've been effin' around with a few wicked plug ins of late, bx digital and flux plug ins.

bx digital is basically a mastering eq, allowing you to eq the mid (mono) and side (stereo) independently and make a certain frequency, i.e. 80Hz and under, mono so the stereo field doesn't thin it out too much. www.brainworx-music.de/

flux has some great dynamics tools, especially solera, which also has an option to compress the
mid/side. they have a demo that isn't timebombed and is fully functional, except after a while it doesn't actually do anything but all it takes is to make note of the changes and remove the plug and put it back again.

i just thought i'd mention some stuff that , in a lot of opinions, surpass the usual suspects (waves, urs, sonnox, etc.).

right now on my list of wicked, in no particular order:

mcdsp: whole line up especially analog channel

waves C1: there's no real replacement

flux solera

sonalksis 315mk2

voxengo elephant: most transparent limiter i've used

tls 2095 la and pre amp tgr18

psp vintage warmer 2, neon, and xenon: (need more cash)

urs classic console strip pro: damn wish i had never tried it, now i want it

UAD LA2a: 1176, pultec, fairchild, like above. even with it's suspect dsp algo that needs to be updated and improved

roomverb 2: old but can do more than it's job

sir: nice and free ir reverb

sonitus: old and dx but still wicked, a good replacement for waves

supaphaser: i don't really mess around too much with phasers and flanging but this is nice and free

rbass: voxengo has a cheaper harmonics plug but i just like this. used it at school to improve this chicks weak-ass bass

soundtoys native bundle is the shit .... their tools are ALL over my sessions ...i like alot of the waves stuff too .. there all over my sessions as well..... i use the digidesign di-fi bundle alot too for weird effects... and tlspace sometimes... i dont eq and compress really, (leave it for the engineer) so im more into the creative and sound design/modulation plugs. Pluggo is crazy ill as well but since i upgraded to pro tools 7.4 pluggo dont work right so I gotta wait till they update it.

ive always liked those analog sound emus like psp vintage warmer. some months ago i stumbled across a company called otiumfx, they have superb sounding drum enhancers and vinylizers. otiumfx beatcompadre is freeware and it can realy improve your drums, very effective in giving digital productions a rugged feel
the other otium plug is sonitex, this one is crazy, you can make your sounds seem as if they were 20 year+ old records. the demo beeps every 15 seconds, but hey thats enough for 4bar loop

I also like PSP Vintage Warmer on the drum buss with proper gain staging or else it just turns your signal into a over saturated mess.

I love the waves ssl serie, I use there eq/Comp on every channel and overdrive the input of the SSLChannel on the 2buss..SWEET

I sometimes use the "Studio Devil Virtual Guitar Amp" plug for dirtying up my samples....but its a mono plug so it will destroy any stereo width present on the signal..

For delays I use cubase moddelay/PSP 608 and for reverb : CSR (very natural sounding)
