dust protectors condenser mics

Do you guys use some kind of dust protectors for your condenser mics? I don't want a bunch of dust to get in and settle down internally on the diaphragm of the mic and reduce the quality. I also don't want to take the mic apart and put it in its case everytime. let me know if you guys have any opinnions.

IMO if theres any dust accumulation on your mics diaphragm its prob not going to inadvertently effect its recording performance to the point where its an issue anyways.....unless ur house is a pigpen and you get serious blankets of dust on your gear I wouldn't even bother.

I completely agree. My mics don't come out of the box unless used, but its based of his request and preference.... so we can enforce something that he doesn't want.

We got some experienced people on this board, if people ask for advise then give proper advise. If he doesnt want to put it back in the box then just plce a plastic bag over it...why bother what you put over it lol

hahah funny that you say put a plastic bag over it, cause thats what i'm rocking right now. and it definitely looks retarded. and since its in my room that shit rustles like crazy at night when the fans on and i'm trying to sleep. maybe I should just take it down everytime, seems like a pain in the ass though

Rule of thumb is, if your not going to be tracking relatively soon your gear should be put away until the next time its needed.
