Cool Edit question...

This wasnt in the tutorial I posted earlier so I need ya help fams,,,,,I decided to try out Cool Edit today and record some test vocals. Now, I try to record but nothing works, yet I can hear myself and watch my vocals peak up and down on the screen? I need to straighten this out ASAP! Any ideas?:headbang:

Yo Stress, try this:
start -> control panel -> sounds and audio devices -> choose 'advance' (under device volumes) -> options -> properties -> choose 'adjust volume for RECORDING' -> check 'microphone' (if it ain't checked as it is) -> when you press 'ok' you will see the devices used for recording. if it ain't chosen already, choose the 'select' underneath the 'microphone'.
try now...

here's some advice i found on the web:
"OKAY, there is a red button (labeled R) to the right of every track in multi track view.(along with a yellow button,labeled S and a green one labeled M) This little red button(again, labeled R) enables you to record onto that track. To record your vocals, click on the record button on whichever track you choose".
