cool edit pro question

I use only vinyl samples to make my beats and when i record them into cool edit pro, the eqing and everything just doesnt sound clean. Not for all samples just certain ones. I use the pop and click remover and hiss reduction, but them it doesnt sound right. I guess my question is how do i clean up a sample real good and make sure the eqing is right as well, dont know if this makes sense. But my beats just dont sound crisp. For those you use cool edit pro, how do you go about perfecting your samples?

record it into something else then open it in Cool Edit...that's what i do...helps a little...

yeah i have tried that but what about those old records where the eqing is bad, i cant seem to get those crisp sounds that i want, its all muffled and muddy
