Casey Veggies is a new MC from Los Angeles, Califonia. His freshman album called "Sleeping In Class" is generating a nationwide buzz. Coming from the tail end of Generation Y, Cassie delivers a young and refreshing twist on what west coast Hip Hop sounds like.
At the age of 17, Casey's ability to rap about the trials and tribulations of a young adult while also appealing to an older crowd is what makes him one of the most promising new artists out.

The album starts out with Forever, a short skit of Casey failing asleep in class, then he raps about his quest to make it in the rap game. This song has a nice flow and sets the tone for the rest of the album.

Ridin 'Roun Town is up next and Casey adds a little swag - bounce flava to the menu. The track has a dope beat with some killer strings providing the melody. This song screams 'pump me up' in the ride.

Hear Me Screaming is a story of a young man with dreams. More dope strings, smooth lyrics combined with a perfect delivery makes this joint another one to put in your favorite playlist.

Get Through feat. Dom Kennedy is yet another joint about his quest to make it in the game. The drums are sick on this beat and it has a strong east coast appeal to it. Dom Kennedy really puts that exclamation point on this track.

30,000 feat. Nero starts out with a dope swag beat. Casey and Nero rip this joint, they are rapping about 30,000 girls being on their style and how they deal with that.

Loved Then Alone is a change of pace. A laid back, slower paced, smooth type joint that Casey tells the world about his life. The background vocals feature a female singer who kills the hook in this.

Go Ahead feat. Mann picks the pace back up a notch. Very nice and synth heavy, this one is about them doing what they gotta do with the females.

Time Flies feat. Skye Townsend is about breaking up with a girl and moving on. This song has a good pace and very soulful with nice melodies and vocal hooks.

Searching changes the pace again, the beat is laid back but it still contains that swag feel to it. This song is about picking yourself back up and searching for an escape. Dope melodies throughout this track.

Dta feat. Tyler The Creator is next up on the menu. This song goes back to a much faster pace and talks about trust. Dta (Don't Trust Anybody) is all about being on a mission with NO distractions. Very swag type groove.

Euphoria II is all about the high of being in the game and his success thus far. This beat is very chill with some awesome background sounds and vocals.

And Ever is the final song on the album. Casey raps about his quest to make it. This joint has a sick bassline laced with a funky but mellow guitar line and some dope drums. Very good closing message.

Conclusion

Casey Veggies dropped a dope album. His mixture of west coast lyrics, east coast beats and a touch of that dirty swag all comes together to form a great freshman effort. He could have brought a little more content to the table but the production throughout this album makes up a lot of ground overall. When all the dust settles, Casey will be a force in the game if he continues to work hard on his craft.

Score: 4 / 5
