ill o.g.
Im a newly converted reason 4 user after watching videos of DJ Khalil and other producers as well as reading many different articles on the features of Reason 4.So im giving up my hardware gear to make the transition and I need some advice on using Reason.Im looking to get that heavy kick sound of my kicks using redrum or nn-xt and I want those fat synth & strings layered sounds as well as come up with my own new sounds using combinator. So whats the best modules to accomplish that big sound? I currently have 15gb of Refills and expanding everyday trying to find new sounds as well I will be sampling various VST plugin instruments that I like to use in Reason.Any advice tips or tricks on getting that big sound DJ Khalil was talking about would be appreciated.

Peace

The best way to get a big kick is in the equing, try to eq the mix in reason so nothing distorts(makes the peak indicator go off), just mix the kicks higher in the mix and everything else lower. Make good use of the volume controls in the mixer, some times I have to drop the levels right down get the equing to sound balanced and then add a mastering suite in between the mixer and hardware mixer, to compress(optional) and use the maximaiser to boost the overall result. Kicks are in the 85hz to 95 hz range, boost those frequencies and drop the higher freqencies and extreme low freqs, this will make the resulting kick sound a lot better.
