I heard Nas last week on the "Ms. Jones Morning Show" on Hot 97 (NYC) and he explained his Hip Hop is Dead statements. He said he wanted to spark a conversation. He wasn't aiming it at the South in particular, but instead he's trying to light a spark in the game. He also said he doesn't mind some of the reactions he's been getting even when they are not pleasant ones. But he also said that if anyone gets too carried away w/ some of their comments that he will not hesitate to "Ether" them...so "be easy" was his message to everyone that took his statement personally.
He also addressed the Sean Bell incident and took the opportunity to take stabs at some MC's who have tried abusing Nas such as 50 Cent. He can't believe that 50 cent has not said or done anything about the tragic shooting of Sean Bell when it was in 50 Cent's (old) neighborhood. We all know he stays in Conneticut now but still that was his old stomping ground. And the irony of it was that in total, the cops shot at the 3 men 50 times. It would've been very easy for 50 Cent to jump in and at least stand up against these cops and do something positive for YOUR OWN neighborhood. Nas also said that 50 has a long way to go before he can say anything about Nas. "His songs and lyrics are just too predictable".
He went on to abuse Jim Jones saying "how can I take an insult seriously from a New York rapper that has a perm"....lol.
Nas then said all these rappers is "ASS"....he said it repeatedly too....great interview.
