The first few bars of intro started off nice for me, then it got a bit too gay (joyful),

Are these your chords and instrumental playing? The piano and chords are good, drums good too, that cinematic pop type drums.
I'd probably get the bass/centre more solid, if it's meant to be more of a Hip-Hop type record.
Mix and balance is good, probably would just try to bring out that emotion even more in it.
