Nice video, I do a very similar process when remixing tracks. I use the original to get the key, maybe copy a couple elements then improvise the rest. Keep the vids coming.
Also keep at the keys, it comes together after time. I can find the keys really quickly now, but it hasnt always been like that.

Making the drums bang, I have recently started using NY compression on all my drums, and damn it makes such a difference.
