Audio mixer

Right now i have my studio monitors going directly into my soundcard. I want to get an audio mixer to add to my setup. I just wanted to know can i plug the mixer into my soundcard, and plug my monitors into the mixer, so i can control the sound. Also what is a good audio mixer to get? Not too expensive 200-300. Dont know is this is a stupid question but any help would be apprechiated!

what kind of mixer do you want? analog or digital?

i have a homeboy that has a mackie 1202 its a pretty good mixer it runs for 3 bills. and i got another homeboy that has the yamaha mg 10 channel it runs for like 80.00 dollars it's pretty good. me i'm just workin with basics i got my dj numark mixer that shit suits my needs...

have an alesis multi mix running to my sound card. Right know i have my monitors running out my soundcard. since that is the end all signal. i used to run the signal back to my mixer and and had the montiors hooked up that way. the monitors had more punch that way. ther are may differnt ways to do it
