assigning zones to pads on the mpc 2kxl

ok. i have an mp 2kxl. i'm interested in chopping samples. i've been accomplishing this with soundforge. but i've learned that to chop samples you must use the zone method and adjust your zones and then assign each of them to a pad. what steps do you take to assign each zone it's own pad?
