Affordable good quality Digital multitrack recorder

Im looking for an affordable Digital multi track recorder that has good quality too. If anyone could point me out a few that are good to look at and even the ones that i shouldnt invest in i would appreciate it. something around the 0 - 1500 range. and if you can pro's and con's of the recorders....Thanks

Just about any of the Roland VS models..16xx.stay away from the ones that use the Zip drive If I had to choose, you can get one cheap used.......

Ok, my boy was tellin me about Roland VS models too i will have to look into them, another friend of mine was tellin me about Akai's.....dunno really what to look for as far as features and whatever

Does anyone know if it would be better to go hardware and get one or if the quality would come out better recording through the computer using a program like pro tools? lemme kno

I just know a few other producers that go to NY on a regular that are on projects and thats what they use, just their mpc's and 2 VS 16XX's and a rack of samples, it is probably easier to use the multitracks, but protools or Le is a good choice if you want to just use the comp to do everything, you need to get pluginz with protools to really get all of the FX and shidd like you would get built into the rolands...you might get better quality with the VS's presets depending on your knowledge of using protools to get good mixes.....the best thing is to get to know some producers that are doing some projects for labels...

protools i would say is the best quality if you want a hard disk recorder go with the korg d1600 very nice i use to own one.but if you got the loot for protools thats what i would pick.

we got that boss br-1180, it has the cd burner, and real easy to use. it took me about 2 or 3 weeks to learn everything on there which is really good, only like $850

i doubt im gonna go the pro tools route tho cause i would need a new computer cause mine wouldnt be able to handle all of that so i will probably go hard ware after thinking it over.

i would have to agree with some of the other guys i would go with a roland. infact i did i have a 1824cd, it's affordable and very very easy to use. if you know roland you would know there stuff is very user friendly, it's the hole package recorder and buner, you can do everything. I would check ebay for an 1824cd, or the new 2400cd, good luck and peace

those look pretty good, those are just a bit too expensive i need something a lil bit cheaper maybe between 500 and 1500.....on a bit of a budget

Good choice for the money.

I had the low end version of that model. (BR-8) with just the zip drive . It had a killer sound with some nice on board effects From pan swishes to out of space shit I can't even use. I sold 2 weeks ago. I regret it so much!

Word. I'm checkin for that Roland VS-1680. It just seems alot easier tham doin shit on your computer to me.

first off roland 1824cd goes on ebay for about 15 hund, also to the guy talking about the 1680, the 1824 is the same but newer with two more tracks., plus onboard matering and burner.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO ... I owned a Roland VS1880 they record audio in compressed format which takes away quality of the audio track. They sound decent but you cant burn the audio files to a data CD and Import them into Pro-tools, logic , etc.....you can only burn a Data CD that only can be read in The Roland Vs 1880 or what ever model you own. They try and keep you locked in there system. Pro tools sound way better and you have way more editing features plus its way more user friendly .... I sold my 1880 because it limited me in recording and editing don't make the same mistake .... for your $1,500 budget you can get more tracks of audio and a better, more compatible set up. If you get a 1680, 1880,880, 2480, you will regret it once you learn more ... trust me ... I've went trough the experience ,so you shouldn't have to ......

You can get a M-box for $400 and a new PC for around $600-$800 thats still cheaper than a $1500 VS1880
