Acoustic Guitar

what do you guys think? would it be better to get an acoustic guitar and record it through a mic? or should i get an electric acoustic guitar and record through a pre-amp, through my tascam 122?? ideas?????

yo definately electro-acoustic. i had an acoustic n used 2 record thru a mic but this neva gave me good sound, there was lots a noise n shit , mayb it was cuz of da mic. but if u gon use a mic , den ull need a really good one otherwise go for electro acoutic n u can hav a very clear signal

really?? well how do you get that gritty sound? as far as for hiphop production? or that deep warm sound? i was thinking of running it through a tube amp with a couple of effects pedals (BOSS) what y'all think??

yeah defintely get electro man... unless u got a instument microphone.... which are pretty expensive and not worth it in my opionion unless ur doin sum real serious recordin...plus u can hookup da accoustic to modeler..which are pretty cheap ..i got one of ebay for 60 bucks... and do some real sick shit for effects.

what you do is get a decent condensor mic and a sm 57, and mic the acoustic guitar, you get the best sound that way. there are plenty of articles on the net that tell you how to mic guitars. this is the same way with electric, you can, (mainly for cost reasons) just go straight in to a recorder, but are suppose to mic the amp wit like a sm 57 and have a condensor farther back to get the acoustics of a room. my boy has a rock band, we went both ways, straight in to the recorder make the guitars sound thin, but from an amp or when you mic the guitar, they sounds thicker, richer and warmer. so i would say straight acoustic and mic it!

I wouldn't suggest going electro-acoustic, unless you want that "Bubblegoose" Wyclef Jean sound, it sounds so artificial.
