Hey,

I've only played with Absynth 1, it is great for making really wacky tripped out sounds. I don't remember exactly how it works, it's something like a sampler with a ton of modulation sources to make them do all sorts of weird things, plus effects and lots of eq's.

I sincerely doubt that the ENTIRE soundtrack was done with Absynth, but it wouldn't surprise me if they used it for a lot of the sounds.

Industrial sounds? Really loud and noisy ones, often percussive, always agressive. Think of Nine Inch Nails, Front 242, Ministry, etc. Sort of like techno.

I'm sure you can make 'warm' sounds, what exactly do you mean? Usually warm refers to the sounds that older analogue synths made because the oscillators would slowly go in and out of tune.

Take care,

Nick

Dear Holmzini:

Absynth 2 is a dramatically powerful and intuitive sampler utilising a multitude of synthesis capabilities to mould sounds to your liking. The patches on the programme are especially powerful since it can dynamically alter the base sample through the applicatioin of FM, ring mod, wavetable, subtractive synthesis, and help you reach a desired output. It seems to be limited in its modularity, but, paradoxically, all its parameters are fully addressable through MIDI manipulation of control envelopes. What I do like is the ability to draw the wave form for the oscillator to utilise, which gives a great deal of power to the user. However, many people do not effectively utilise most of its parameters properly, let alone understand the concepts of them. The ability for the user to load and manipulate the sound is a very key issue in this area, and I think it's a great soft synth.

As for the Matrix 2 soundtrack being done all in Absynth, I highly doubt it. Some of it may have been done with Absynth. Where did you hear this?

The "warm" sound dilemma seems moot. There are many ways to get a "warm" sound, and the argument over what something sounds like is something I will not involve myself in. Perhaps you are misconstruing the applicability of what is a "warm" sound to the general area of synthesis by deducing the definitions brought forth for "warm" sound in other areas, like recording a voice, etc.

Sincerely,
God

yeah i dont know how to explain the sound im going for. "warm" is just my idea of a sound that has punch and feeling to it..not your usual dry sounding presets....upon researching this product, it looks like u can make some real cool sounds with it. after reading i realize that the maxtrix 2 soundtrack wasn't COMPLETELY done in absynth but it was used pretty extensively in it....they talk about it here
