A few small ideas.

My personal opinion is not only should IllMuzik be a producer/artist forum, but try to make it more business orientated. Like more of the Industry talk, but not only that but also try adding in some pure small business advise, along with the “Do’s and Don’ts” about the business world. Most defiantly more articles also, I enjoy reading up on tutorials, along with plain feedback articles. I alone could help with the business orientated articles.
Also, another quick suggestion would be maybe a pure tutorial article section, and you could separate them into separate additions, like “MPC Tutorials”, “Reason Tutorials”, “FL Tutorials”, “Business Help Section”, and “User posted Tutorials”. I think that would be a most def. good idea.
As far as the “Newb” problem goes, I’d put them through a “Trial” Method of some sort. Maybe put them through like a “Feedback” Trial of some sort, like “You must have ATLEAST “this many” positive, and helpful post within 2weeks or your account will be null and void. None of this “LOL!” one post bullshit. And, all NEW MEMEBERS MUST give a detailed introduction, and must be Active for at least 7 days to be able to access the “Showcase” section.
But that’s only an idea of mine.

As far as what others have spoken, I’d have to agree with the Battle Section.

Just some personal thoughts and ideas.

Stay Up.

The thing is tho when your new, you dont understand how everything works, I'm still discovering stuff, and I spend time in here.
I think that whatever Fade is doing now seems to be working cuz a couple of weeks ago the place was crazy.
Lets be fair to the new "memebers" and all their meme friends. :D

I think making the site more business oriented is a good idea actually. I would love to see that around here. It'd be nice to somehow attract attention from labels or something where a label comes to the illmuzik site semi-exclusively for a track for whatever project. Like the deal could be for a set price or something ($250 is low but could be real enticing) for the track and they describe what they are looking for. Instead of a battle it'd be like a showcase and whoever wants to can post a beat (which means they agree to the $250 or whatever set price) and the label can pick whichever or none.

Labels (or label reps) DO come to illmuzik.com and browse around (some even post here)you'd be surprised.

I wouldn't like for this site to become a place where people come exclusively to sell beats,
it would take away from the "community aspect" of this site (which is its strongest point)

There are sites out there that act as a manager, and "shop" your beats online, but they take a lot of your rights to the beat away

$250 for a beat sold to a major is not enticing, it's actually insulting and shows inexperience (this is not directed to you personally, talking in general terms)
There are many established/working producers that have people on their staff that
go out and find young, hungry "$250 producers" and buy their beats (and all rights to them) for 5-10 G's on-the-spot.

As far as increasing the business aspects of illmuzik.com -- the resources section is on the come-up and you also have Blowing Up From the Basement in the Industry Talk section. If you follow at least half the stuff written in those articles, you would be a lot further along "in the game"

I agree with you in a way, shadeed.

I was thinking more along the lines of smaller labels though. Yes a measily $250 for a beat is rediculously low when working with majors but I was just throwing a lowball price out there. Something for smaller labels and lesser "in the game" producers. I see it as working your way up. Theres a lot of people who have beats but no track record at all. Just an idea anyways.

I do see you on the not wanting it to become all about people selling beats here. It'd be crazy cuz everyone who makes beats would flock to this place only trying to sell their stuff but not be in the community.

The Basement articles are really helpful. I was thinking of things to add to illmuzik itself though. Don't know if that makes sense but I mean something more exlusive to illmuzik members aside from the knowledge.

well these things are actually being worked on, and the mods havedone some brainstorming to handle this noob issue.

things are progressing towards the things yuo speak of, by my perspective. remmeber that the community element has been the most valuable element of this place, and people such as shadeed, big d, and god who have industry knowledge and experience are all valuable pieces to that puzzle.

we're on our way, patience grasshopper!
