... hey peeps, i may be doing this right already, but i just thought i find out from others more experienced or doing similar stuff regarding layering of drums in a sequencer.

i find layering melodies easier, perhaps cos of my choir background but im just learning about the drums side.
lets get the lingo outta the way. layering i take it is stacking similar or the same sounds against each other ..yes?

so lets say i wanna layer snares, these especially are notorious for flanging so would i have one channel Normalized, and the other not so as to avoid the flangin? can i layer about 3-4 channels and one of possibly a different snare, but all at quite low levels?

i know it should be or is best done with the main snare going on, but would i also need to pan these layered snares Hard left and hard right, OR have the main snare HL/HR while the others are say MID_left and MID_right? do u compress them all as one or individually?
i guess the same process would apply to KIKS, n Hats?

lol i think thats more than 2 questions, but im trying out all these as i practice in my own time, just wanted to know form those that do it already. and has anyone got soundeforge 7, now that its owned by sony..is it still the mcdaddy? i wanna upgrade from my version 6

thx

soundforge has a copy n paste.....mix I use this a lot there will be no flanging you will thicken your snares with this method quickly and then apply some EQ.....and on top of that if you are snatching your own samples......try applying the envelope to the snare too.,,,
