i kno this may sound pretty dumb but im looking into purchasing an mpc because i am getting tired of using my pc to sequence and sample. i was just wondering if it would make sense to buy an mpc1000 or an mpc2000xl. i was leaning towards the 2000xl but the cost is kinda high. would it make sense to start out with the 1000 considering i havent started using samples in my beats yet or just get the 2000xl..i read that the xl has a lot of features that the 1000 doesnt?

I sold my 2000xl to get a 500. I'm loving the 500.. but i'm missing the 8 outs..

The 1000 is the machine to get IMO. Small, good Effects, and 6 outs.. nice machine..

I've got the XL but used the 1000, and I do prefer the XL. You mention you're tired of sampling into the PC? If so then I'd go for the XL. I've found that the only real advantage [other than the inbuilt effects] that a 1000 has over an XL is the fact that you can drag and drop samples straight from your PC onto your MPC via the USB.

Going from PC to an MPC is stepping in to the past. lol

I disagree, not everybody lacks rhythm to physically bang on an inst designed for making beats!

which was already possible via scsi....

what people need is a sampler that diggs crates for you, then records and chop shop only those samples that nobody has used before and have instant hit (money) potential, than transfers a backup to any storage media by magical powers(even tape). It also automatically starts booting when you have an idea and deploys a pre rolled dutch after you finished the first 2 bar, then it faxes a sample clearance request to the proper label which is always granted.

ehr...

Go with the 1000 or 2500(if you can put out that much loot). Either one I dont think you will be disappointed. 2000xl is still a good machine, but me personally I would go with either of the two latest versions of the mpc's

damn f yall,

i'm still rocking my 2000 classic lol.

anyway @ thread starter: if you're new to the MP, get the 1000 man. Get that and JJ OS, you should be good. Like Relic said, why get a 2000XL now :D
