Reason 5 and Record 1.5 within a week or so.

Ah well to answer my own question for future reference.... In NN-XT load a sample, click on the smaple so it's highlighted and then underneath the main window (with the module expanded) there is a knob named 'Play Mode' change this to 'FW-SUS' and that solves the problem! Big thanks to... -

ahh glad to hear there is an easier way, where abouts is the 'play mode' setting, and also are we talking about on an NNXT or NN19 or whatever? -

I've been using Reason for years but I've never found a simple solution to this. When sampling with an MPC you can hit a pad and play back the sample and if you change it to the right mode the sample will only play as long as you hold the pad, as soon as you let go of the pad the sample stops... -

to be honest with your budget you would probably be better off getting logic 8 rather than pro tools you will only be able to afford basic pro tools mpowered or Le which has a limited track count etc of 32 tracks iirc which isn't a great deal when you start recording bands etc. you can upgrade... -

a lot of interesting points in here... a few of my own points i think we need to remember when hip hop first started it wasn't controlled by anyone it was being made by the people for the people as the music industry took notice they changed it and moulded it into what it needed to be in order... -
Auto Tune plugin suggestions
i'd definately go for melodyne, plus they got a new piece of software coming out from the company that make melodyne which allows you to pick out certain notes of chords on instrument recordings and adjust them so you don't have to do a re-take over one small mistake! haven't heard it work yet... -
