    Well it does have sdif so you can get better convertors and better pre's. I usually like Maudio stuff a bit better on the budget side. Also you can then buy pro tools mpowered for your maudio stuff. I like the 410 http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/FireWire410-main.html

    The pre amps are ok, but that unit has no flexibility. When you save up and get nicer preamps you wont be able to use it.

    Right on, I agree that the engineer matters more than the gear! Thats for sure. Some of the best recordings ever made where made on worse gear than your average project studio!

    You do know that a 64 bit processor is worthless with out windows xp 64bit edition running on top. If you are running XP home or XP pro you are not getting 64 bit performance as they are 32bit operating systems. and on another note ALL intel processors are now 64bit.
