    well they bill there stuff as pro and it simply is not, its cool for gaming and what not but there converters are just not up to snuff to do high end audio work. Also have you ever had to get warranty out of them, it sucks!

    They are different tools, there are things I can do in the digital world that I could never do on tape/analog. But there are things I miss about tape sometimes. I love Reason, I also love mpc's but If I had to choose one it would be reason.

    are you using the step in redrum? If so just put a low volume hit right before. If you are using the sequencer just pencil in a low velocity hit.

    A ghost stroke is a low velocity hit, I work with a drummer that is the king of ghost snare notes. Just get a really low (volume) note that is a little before or after the main kick beat and you should be good to go.

    I use a mac, with Logic and pro tools. Education wise I think you need to be out of high school. It will cost you around 15k for there online program, not to bad.
