    MPC5000 looks awesome!

"I think it would be highly inefficient to trigger the start of a sample in ram and the rest from the HD." This is strictly how Gigastudio works and it is very efficient. That is how you can have 10GB libraries with1GB of system ram. It works very well.

    MPC5000 looks awesome!

"ram matters ALOT my dude ." The 5000 works like Gigastudio and Kontakt, they load a second of the start of each sample in the ram and then stream the rest off the HD. So it is not as important as it used to be.

"If I DO download stuff from the net, it's done in a VMWare machine first then, once it's been scanned and determined to be safe, I transfer it to a folder outside the VM. All virii are caught that way." I worked that way in the past as well. What a pain. You cant tell me that is easy for the...

Rolls eyes http://geekblog.oneandoneis2.org/index.php/2006/08/17/why_doesn_t_linux_need_defragmenting Again that is why its not as big of an issue on the mac. Maxtor Harddrives

Glyph uses Seagate drives and they add allot of value to the drive that others don't. For example if your HD dies Glyph will try and recover your data free, no other company will do that. That alone is worth getting glyph.
