    Im looking into getting one myself but might be awkward for me since I use my right hand on the record. Try looking at the Numark PT01 Scratch so you dont need a Raiden Fader Peace!

    Im guessing its probably how you use them, I've never bought a kit, all my drums including some instruments are all sampled. A few tips you can use before you purchase one tho.. make sure your using them in mono and that they are in .wav files. also never forget to normalize your samples...

    I reckon pad sensitivity would be an issue, not that I owned one. just judging by the looks of it and the time it came out. But, im pretty sure itll get the job done for you. have you tried looking at midi keyboards? waaay better in my opinion.

    it all depends on the sample he used, like @Koey mentioned. It is possible to get the same effect through EQing alone but you might want to try to transpose your samples as well, pitch your kicks lower and your snares higher. As well as playing with the ADSR of those samples. hope that helps.

    The Akai MPC 500 is a sampler. I believe it does come with factory sounds on the memory card. You can always erase them and use whatever sounds you want. You can either Import sounds through the memory card or sample using the inputs. What will you use it for? Are you looking for portability...

    88 - 95 depends on what sample I work with, but 90% of my beats fall in that category.

    definitely start with the free ones. ;) I had a bunch when i first started out. they are all basically the same, just different components. :p Peace! Edit: your talking about sampler softwares aye? haha my bad :D
