    Memphis (Horrorcore?) Beat

The hat and clap pattern is catchy. I don't mind the swing in the piano, but I think having such a difference in the drum/piano rhythm would make it tough for a vocalist, so I think drilling down to one main rhythm may help it flow better. I also think it needs better quality sounds in general...

    I did the unthinkable...

Yo Yo. The Dust Buster here. I sense some animosity brewing in this thread. I have an idea: let's all smoke weed and make beats. I'll start.

Right. I try to look at my DAW like it's a piece of hardware that can't connect to the outside world. Obviously a quick search here or there if I'm in fine-tune mode, but otherwise I try to close everything out. It's like my nightly therapy. I've been making ~4-5 beats a week with that approach...

    Some 8 bit vibes...

Really like the scratch effect, adds a nice element. The shift from the guitar to synth was smooth, and I like how the 8-bit vibes evolved throughout the track. Solid work here. Maybe the melody is a tad loud and the drums could be a bit louder, but that may just be personal preference. Great...

At what point does sampling feel like stealing ?

So I did cheat a little and the main sample I used for the melody is actually a bit from a Frank Sinatra AI cover of Thriller, which was based on the Postmodern Jukebox cover of Thriller, so I'm a couple covers away from the original. So I'm not sure if it technically is a true Thriller flip...

    Best headphones for mixing?

Not a bad price if they're all they're cracked up to be. Might have to consider down the road. I need to get an actual full size midi keyboard first haha. I just realized my Sennheiser HD400 Pro headphones came with a trial of dearVR Mix. Going to try that tonight while wrapping up this beat...

    The illest beat selling links

This is a topic that I've been thinking about too. I'm still working on building out a solid portfolio, so I've just been posting to YT for now, but my thought is I probably have to go everywhere and still need to figure out the best mass upload option/tool.

Audio visualizer software or website for dope beat videos?

Does it work well? I've been wondering what's the best one click mass upload tool to use.

That's actually an interesting approach to have one great monitor and mix in mono.

    Best headphones for mixing?

Thanks man. I ended up getting a pair of Audio-Technica M20X for that. I also use them during the day when just listening to music and working too. The 650s look dope, I'll have to put those on the wishlist though given the price haha. After this post, I've been using a combo of my Sennheiser...

Question for trap producers... how to get 808s consistent across various sound systems?

Oh shit, gotta update that. Now on to Rebel Sour. I should arrange my beat tapes based on whatever weed is in circulation.

Thanks man, really appreciate the detailed response on this. Definitely the insight I was looking for and much appreciated as I'm still trying to learn how to work with 808s. And yes, I agree too much processing haha.
