    Just to the people thats finished education and are now working. If it's true you get far less time for the lab work, and are not doing this as a hobby i.e want to pursue it professionally, dont you think you have to commit 100% to make real progress? Or is there some strategy that can work...

    how do u name your tracks?

    I used to be very organized in reason. Named each beat Ad_beat num_month_year, eg Ad1-jan-2007 and so forth. But since i moved to logic earlier on this year, things are all over the place, gonna have to sort it soon though, get my old system back in place.

    Myself, if am just doing a beat for the sake of doing one (or for the catalogue am building), i just do what i feel. If i am doing something thats going to some project, definately gota have the artist in mind.

    the mpc1000 doesnt have spdif or digital out? from my experience you never get hums with these.

    What i do isnt that much different. I drop the acapella in Logic. Setup a 4bar/8bar loop and get the chorus to fit it by adjusting the tempo. The more you do it, the faster you get. I used to do the tempo match with ear but you can even actually do it visually, by noting where the hook starts...

    just get a pc emulator and download the rom for it. You can then just record the sounds off there direct into your pc.
