    new sample flip

Lol post away man. This is all for fun. Since I'm more of a melodic guy, I like to chop my samples based on the different notes/hits that come up in the sample. I have the MPD 32 so I just throw down my chops on the pads and rearrange it till I get a melody that I like.

KDVS: Real mellow. I like this. At times seems like a lil too much is going on but that's me being nitpicky. GOod stuff.

    Pricing a beat

Woo, thanks for the crash course haha. Honestly, this is the first exclusive beat I've sold. Is getting a lawyer, getting sample clearance, etc. all that necessary especially at my level?

    Pricing a beat

Hey all, Somebody reached out to me the other day asking to buy the exclusive rights to a beat of mine for his mixtape and he asked for a price, but I honestly had no idea where to even start the negotiation lol. I looked up some ranges online and I read somewhere that $200-$500 is a good...

    Adding basslines

For the most part, I do know my scales but its just hearing it and knowing that it is in a certain key is difficult for me. It's something I have to work on though. Maybe I'm not doing it right, but I can never completely just key in on the bass when filtering it out. You're simply using an EQ...

    Adding basslines

I know some theory, but when I listen to samples that I'm flipping, I never know what key they are in so I can add some of my own basslines to the final beat. How do you guys go about finding out the key of a sample when your ear isn't trained to hear it?

Thanks for the feed diskrete. I'm digging the sample. I like the added strings. Melody is tight, but the drums are kinda lacking for me. This feels like a hard ass beat, but the kick isn't really hitting and the snap, for me, doesn't match the vibe of the rest of the beat.

    Making your drums less boring

I've been trying to make my drums more interesting and different, but I'm finding it hard to do. You're pretty limited to just finding different samples for the typical kick, snare, and hi-hat and switching up your patterns. What do you guys do to spice up your drums?
