I am cosidering using a sample from an SNK fighting game (). However, for it being a SYNTH sample, and SNK having sued another company for something similar in some regards to sample lawsuits (https://www.destructoid.com/cops-raided-square-enix-after-criminal-lawsuit-from-snk-279201.phtml) I am a bit nervous. Should I risk it for creativity’s sake, or not? (Keep in mind, I haven’t even produced 10 beats or wrote 10 raps yet, however, I strive to make it big, and I’m nervous if shit hits the fan due to this if and when it happens)

I wouldn't worry about it. You should sample because no one is going to try and sue you at this point. If you were a well known artist, then yeah you need to clear it. But just making beats and posting them online - no one is going to come after you. If they do, it's a waste of time since there's no point unless they know they can milk you for lots of money.

Even guys like Premier and Pete Rock still regularly sample, and Premier even said he doesn't clear his samples. If someone comes after him, they settle it, but he doesn't worry about it.

Thanks! Even if the publicity stunt I’ve been planning works, I’m not gonna care, and if anything DOES happen, I will try to fight for samples to be fair use, and make sure I won’t go the way of Biz Markie, The Dodo, or the Essenes

If creating to just create, and not selling the beat in any way and make sure to put in info where ever posted that you in no way own the rights to that sample, you shudnt have any issue - I did same with my westworld remix - no trouble from HBO yet! lmfao
