@Fade - the oxygen is ok, but it has a loose USB connection and it is big and bulky for my desk. I may go with the Akai MPK Mini MK2 and try out the MPC Essentials software and Hybrid 3 synth. Not quite sure yet though. The turntable idea also intrigues me.
Hey guys.
I have been using my Maschine solely to make beats and it has been working well for me. I have been thinking of picking up another piece of gear though if it increases my workflow.
What piece of gear works well and helps with your workflow? I was considering a decent midi...
@tomkillsjerry Nice studio setup. I am loving my Rokit 4s, thanks for the recommendation of KRKs a while ago. I may just have to add that sub later for low end distribution.
I completely agree with @Spritejohnson . YouTube will be your best friend - it definitely was and is for me. I didn't have someone to show me how to construct beats so I watched (and am still watching) countless hours of beat videos and tutorials. I am also going to join Maschine Masters soon...
@Slag prod. They are awesome. I used them a bit yesterday and they sound fantastic. They definitely give me a different sound than my Audio Technica 50 headphones, which is great. They will help in providing a clear mix in the near future.
Thanks @Slag prod. I actually ordered a pair of the Rokit 4s. They will be perfect for my desk size. No acoustic treatment here either and it won't be happening. The room where I make music is our spare bedroom and it isn't aesthetically pleasing to have the treatment all over!
Dang, that is dope! I love the changeups and FX on that track. Kind of a new age soul vibe going.
I am digging that track @TheRealAGE.. Smooth and laid back.. The A$AP crew has some dope stuff.
Hey guys - trying to resurrect this thread. Does anyone have experience with the JBL LSR305s? I have whittled down my choice to either those or the KRK Rokit 5s. I heard that the Rokits color the sound a bit and the JBL's are more of a true, clear sound.
@tomkillsjerry Love that track.. Are those all Massive sounds?
@KDVS That was fresh!!! Are you finding that more people are peeping your music with those beat building videos? I was thinking of heading down the same path.
@Solo I really dig that second track. It has that soulful vibe with new age sounding drums. I like the repetive voice too.
@tomkillsjerry Absolutely dope! Each time I listen to your tracks I enjoy the southern hiphop feel more and more.
Hey guys. Here is a track I just finished with a...
@tomkillsjerry Well done here - nice leads and transitions. Also the mix is very clean. I have found that the Native Instruments sounds are extremely clear and high quality - they really do help with mixing. Are these what you are using?
As far as controllers go, shoot for something with lots of knobs and buttons on the unit itself. I bought the Maschine Mikro and I do love it, but I am starting to wish that I had more controller and less software control options. The knobs make a big deal, especially with chopping samples...
